Hi Ruth!
I believe you meant this message for necee, but I got it and passed it over to her:
Dear Necee - You have boosted my spirits today when I need it badly. Although I have 8 more cats, I felt something special for my white cat, Forrest. He never stopped thanking me for rescuing him from the large family of children.
Also I have a son with a nice family of his own, but he has put me firmly out of his life. I can't get used to it. Pretend I didn't say that.
Karolyn Q does this same thing all of the time.

Hi Ruth,
Sorry I have been such a stranger on Gather. I have been very involved with my genealogy blog iPentimento http://ipentimento.com and haven't been visiting Gather as much. So nice of you to comment on my post about my father-in-law in Iowa.
Best regards, Carol

Ruth,
I think you are far too hard on yourself.
My two paternal aunts, although they survived all their younger brothers (my dad included), are in their eighties, and have gone into advanced stages of Alzeimers; they need to be cared for. Even though I saw them at Christmas, I'm told they probably would not recognize me now, as they don't even always recognize their own children.
Another aunt -- a maternal aunt in her eighties, though sound of mind -- has congestive heart failure, and we keep an eye on her as well.
Now you, are writing brilliant prose, but put yourself down for something that most of the Gather community is having trouble about. I call that being a tad hard on yourself. You write poignant, brilliantly crafted stories, that always leave me sitting a moment to pause and reflect. What talent you have. What a contribution you make. You've so much to offer.
Why are those with the most talent the hardest on themselves?
Thank you again, for the GIFT of YOU.

Also, thank you for your wonderful comment. Coming from such an experienced writer as yourself, it is very encouraging for less experienced writers to hear someone such as yourself make such kind, humble, and encouraging remarks. Thank you so much!

Hi Ruth,
On my article, you said this:
"Sharing is probably a better term than publishing. I don't care what they call it. My problem is that I cannot find it. The new format has me looking for the icon to click when I have something to share. Today I have an 800 word article concerning the length of this presidential campaign. I spent days researching and writing it, but I can't post it because I can't find the replacement word for 'publish' since last night's changes. It isn't on my menu bar where it used to appear. I feel as if I have been thrown off the bus."
If you go to "My Gather", up at the top there is a menu, where one of the menu items is EXPLORE
Once you click on EXPLORE, you shall see the SHARE option.
It gives you the usual options -- to SHARE
a POST (it used to be an article)
a Video
a Photo (it used to be an image)
All you need to is make your selection, and continue as usual.
I should point out that several people have complained about having problems actual getting the the post to go through. For that reason, I highly recommend that your post is backed up on a word processor or something, just in case. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks, Ruth!

Thanks for asking Ruth. It's been wild, but we're hanging in there.
I'll get a column written about July and publish it shortly.
